Term 3 Flies By!

Wow - I can't believe we're already into Week 7 of Term 3! Room 1 have had an exciting term so far and the progress each student has shown is outstanding.

Room 1 are working on sharing a greater range of ideas in our daily writing, as well as, including "interesting" words and adjectives. Last week we wrote about our Dream Castle as our letter of the week was "Cc". The writing was of such a high quality that we decided to publish them in preparation Assembly on Friday this week. Here are a few pictures of the students' work:

Room 1 have also been busy preparing for our Wearable Arts show which will take place in Week 9. Each student is constructing a headpiece out of recycled materials that have been kindly donated by the parental community. The children in Room 1 requested an Under the Sea theme for our headpiece which we have been busy making each Friday. So far we have used toilet rolls to make fish, sharks and octopi. Last week we used egg cartons to make coral, rocks, clams, jellyfish and crabs. Here is a sneak peak of our sea creations and we will be posting pictures of the finished product in a couple of weeks.

Term 3 with Team Tahi!

Room 1 have had an exciting and productive start to Term 3! We completed our first maths strand on Transformation and thoroughly enjoyed the different activities on Symmetry, Translation and Rotation. Miss Marais was very impressed with how quickly we grasped these concepts, as well as, the enthusiasm we showed in creating our own patterns using this new knowledge.

Room 1 were also responsible for hosting the first school assembly for Term 3 and sharing an item with the community present. James and Nikita did a fantastic job of hosting and all the students who shared their Snowflake Art spoke clearly and with superb expression.

Finally, Room 1 have been participating in dance classes each Wednesday with the Stepping Out Dance Co. We have already learnt so much from our fabulous instructors and look forward to our weekly lessons. Here are some photos of us in action:
