The Gala, News and Captain Cash!

Wow -  I can't believe how quickly this Term is flying by! Firstly, I would like to say thank you to all of the parents in Room 1 for your support and hard work leading up to the Korokoro School Gala. The day was a huge success and it would not be possible without such a generous and creative parental community.

Here are a few photos of Room 1 preparing our "Potted Teacups" for the Gala last Friday:

This is the lovely stall all ready to go on Saturday - check out the awesome animal jars:

There were a few butterflies and monsters at the Gala too....

Thank you all again for such a fantastic day!

Each Wednesday the students in Room 1 are encouraged to share a piece of "News" with their classmates. This news could be an item brought in from home, or, it could simply be a discussion about an event, outing, or anything that is of interest to the child. This allows each student to develop confidence talking to a large group, as well as, practice our listening skills. At the end of sharing we ask if there are "any questions or comments" so that we can also learn how to ask good questions and make connections with our peers.

We loved hearing about Bella's sunflower and Chivan's Animal Book:

Finally, Room 1 had a visit from "Captain Cash" recently as part of our financial literacy programme. During this session we put all of the coins and notes in order from smallest to biggest, as well as, learnt the difference between "Needs" and "Wants" using the catchphrase "speed to your needs and wait for your wants".
