Assembly, Cross Country and Swimming!

Room 1 have had a busy week! On Friday, we hosted Assembly and shared our Poppy Art with the school and parental community. Well done to everyone who read! It was clear how much effort you all put in and I was very proud of you. Here is a photo of our fantastic assembly hosts:

On Friday afternoon, Room 1 participated in the Junior Syndicate Cross Country race. It was chilly outside but everyone ran to the best of their ability and I was blown away (literally and figuratively) with the talent we have in Room 1.

Finally, today we had our first day of Swimming down at Huia Pool. Everyone was so well behaved and listened beautifully to their instructors. Well done Room 1 - Your are super swimmers and I'm looking forward to seeing your progress over the next two weeks!

Our Special Visitor...

Wow - Term 2 is flying by with only 4 weeks to go! Room 1 had a special visitor a couple of weeks ago which inspired some fantastic writing. Here are a few pictures of our new woolie friend:

Miss Marais was so impressed with our writing that we shared it with the rest of the school and parental community at Assembly. Well done to our brave readers!

Finally, Room 1 have been focusing on the topic of Print Making in Art this term. After learning about ANZAC Day and the significance of poppies, we decided that our first prints should reflect this new knowledge. We each drew a picture of a poppy using pencil and then went over the outline with PVA glue. Once this had dried it was time to roll our dye on and create our prints. Here are our masterpieces:
